A green man in Rosslyn Chapel, 7 miles south of Edinburgh, Scotland. Wikipedia says there are over 110 such carvings at Rosslyn Chapel. I’ve been to Rosslyn and have seen this carving and many of the others. There are many unusual discoveries to be made at Rosslyn.
In 2010, it was discovered that William St Clair, the founder, had bee hives built into one of the towers on the outside. The bees would fly in through a hole in the middle of a carved flower. A rose, perhaps? Article at this link »
